“…for God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control. Therefore do not be ashamed of the testimony about our Lord, nor of me his prisoner, but share in suffering for the gospel by the power of God, who saved us and called us to a holy calling, not because of our works but because of his own purpose and grace, which he gave us in Christ Jesus before the ages began…” – ESV / Commentary

“…Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ, who gave himself for our sins to deliver us from the present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father…” – ESV / Commentary
“…You were near, Though I was distant
Disillusioned I was lost and insecure
Still mercy fought, For my attention
You were waiting at the door, Then I let You in
Trading Your life, For my offenses
For my redemption, You carried all the blame
Breaking the curse, Of our condition
Perfection took our place
When only love
Could make a way
You gave Your life
In a beautiful exchange…” – Hillsong United ‘A Beautiful Exchange’ Lyrics

“He raises up the poor from the dust; he lifts the needy from the ash heap to make them sit with princes and inherit a seat of honor. For the pillars of the earth are the Lord’s, and on them he has set the world….” – ESV / Commentary
“You then, my child, be strengthened by the grace that is in Christ Jesus, and what you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses entrust to faithful men who will be able to teach others also. Share in suffering as a good soldier of Christ Jesus.” – ESV / Commentary
“The skies lay low where You are
On the earth You rest Your feet
Yet the hands that cradle the stars
Are the hands that bled for me…
In a moment of glorious surrender
You were broken for all the world to see
Lifted out of the ashes
I am found in the aftermath…
Freedom found in Your scars
In Your grace my life redeemed
For You chose to take the sinner’s crown
As You placed Your crown on me…”
Love the description sung of coming to Christ when we initially accept Him in our hearts… Being lifted from the ashes, from the dust, being born again into something greater and saved from the ashes of death… Then later it’s described as being lifted out of the wreckage, the debris, the mess and chaos of our lives to something that contains greater peace, rest, and joy…
“..And in that moment You opened up the heavens; To the broken the beggar and the thief..” Just can’t get enough of this image of how desperate and broken our lives and spirits are and the need for our Savior Christ. Then the final statement of “…Knowing I’m found; In the LIGHT of the aftermath…” how amazing!
Tune in for the next study of A Beautiful Exchange as we continue studying the Sacrifices of Christ and their meaning!
Thank You and God Bless!
“But we have this treasure in jars of clay, to show that the surpassing power belongs to God and not to us…” – ESV
“The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me, because the Lord has anointed me to bring good news to the poor; he has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound; to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all who mourn; to grant to those who mourn in Zion— to give them a beautiful headdress instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, the garment of praise instead of a faint spirit, that they may be called oaks of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that he may be glorified.” – ESV / Commentary
